About Us
To take lead in ensuring the implementation of basin level Integrated Water Resources Management in the Kingdom of Eswatini.
Establishment
The Joint River Basin Authorities- Project Board (JRBA-PB) is an operational organization within the Ministry of Natural Resources and Energy established under section (79) of the Eswatini Water Act of 2003. The entity aims to strengthen the five (5) River Basins Authorities of the country through improving water management activities at a sub-national level, while at the same time covering the entire country.
Mission Statement
Joint RBAS aim to take the lead in Water Resources Management; by ensuring the implementation of basin-level Integrated Water Resources Management in the Kingdom of Eswatini.
Objectives of the Project Board
The Project Board works broadly to ensure coordinated, equitable, and efficient utilisation of water resources to sustainably maximise socio-economic and environmental benefits. This is done through:
Water Resources Management
The assistance of River Basin Authorities and related institutions in aligning with provisions of the Water Resources Master Plan.
Advisory
Advising River Basin Authorities on basin issues in terms of section 33(6) of the Water Act, 2003.
Secretariat Services
The provision of secretariat and technical support services to all the River Basin Authorities;
Our Partnerships
To improve water management in Eswatini. The operational organization is involved in both regional and international cooperation activities to leverage the elements of good water management.
The Blue Deal Programme
Eswatini is one of the 17 partnerships in 14 countries within the programme. This “All Hands on Deck” project partnership with the Dutch Water Authorities - Vechtstromen.
GWPE – Global Water Partnership Eswatini
The Joint RBAS-PB plays a pivotal role in coordinating the functioning of the Global Water Partnership Eswatini (GWPE), which is ascertained to mobilise all relevant stakeholders in the Water, Energy, and Food sectors.
