Establishment

Joint River Basin Authorities – Project Board (JRBA – PB) is an operational organization within the Ministry of Natural Resources and Energy. JRBA – PB was established under section (79) of the Eswatini Water Act of 2003. The entity aims to strengthen the five (5) River Basins Authorities of the country; through improving water management activities at a sub-national level while covering the entire country.

Mission Statement

JRBA-PB aim to take the lead in Water Resources Management; by ensuring the implementation of basin-level Integrated Water Resources Management in the Kingdom of Eswatini.

The JRBA – PB works broadly to ensure coordinated, equitable and efficient utilization of water resources; to sustainably maximize socio-economic and environmental benefits.

In accordance with section 79 of the Water Act of 2003;

A Project Board is established for new developments requiring new capital input or organization, and its management is elected by the relevant water users.

It is therefore in this tune that the JRBA- PB exists as an autonomous entity, with its organizational structure and administrative procedure subject to the Act and internal regulations adopted by the Board of Directors.
